The Centre for West Midlands History, originally the Centre for Birmingham and Midlands History), was founded at the University of Birmingham in 2006 to create a forum for the study of the history of Birmingham and the Midlands. Since then, the Centre has created an MA in West Midlands History, run an annual conference and operated a range of Day Schools and Evening Classes. The Centre has provided support for projects and worked with heritage professionals and independent scholars in the wider community. A recent initiative is the establishment of the Friends of the Centre for West Midlands History.
